It took me a long time and most of the world to learn what I know about love and fate and the choices we make, but the heart of it came to me in an instant, while I was chained to a wall and being tortured. I realised, somehow, through the screaming in my mind, that even in that shackled, bloody helplessness, I was still free: free to hate the men who were torturing me, or to forgive them. It doesn't sound like much, I know. But in the flinch and bite of the chain, when it's all you've got, that freedom is a universe of possibility. And the choice you make, between hating and forgiving, can become the story of your life.
The excerpt is from the book Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts.

This particular paragraph really touched me. It says that whatever you go through in life no matter how big or small, you always have a choice and that choice somehow defines who you are. The choices you make today will have an impact tomorrow and ultimately its all lies in your hands.

I have just started reading this book and I hope to finish it sooner despite such hectic schedule I am always hurdled in. For me, time is always so short yet so precious.

Even though I haven't taken this picture, for me this picture says it all, that, it is in our hands to make the right choices and be happy : )
